Amazon Advertising is experiencing unprecedented growth and represents a key strategic focus for Amazon globally. We are seeking an experienced manager to lead and develop our Ad Tech Sales organization in Japan. This strategic leadership position will play a pivotal role in shaping Amazon's advertising technology presence in one of our most important markets.

As manager, you will be responsible for building and leading a team of sales professionals focused on developing strategic partnerships and driving adoption of Amazon's advertising technology solutions across agencies and enterprise clients in Japan. Your organization will spearhead the growth of Amazon DSP, APIs, and cloud-based marketing analytics products, while creating innovative solutions that bridge Amazon's advertising and cloud capabilities.

In this role, you will develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies for the Japanese market, working closely with regional and global leadership to align priorities and resources. You will be responsible for establishing and nurturing C-level relationships with key decision-makers across agencies and advertisers, including CMOs, CTOs, and senior marketing executives, while mentoring your team to do the same. Your leadership will be crucial in educating the market about the strategic value of programmatic advertising and Amazon's ad tech solutions.

You will orchestrate collaboration between multiple stakeholders, including AWS, product teams, and solutions architects, to create compelling value propositions and drive significant business growth. As a leader, you will be expected to build and scale robust sales processes, develop team capabilities, and foster a culture of innovation and customer obsession.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive enterprise sales leadership experience, preferably in advertising technology or SaaS solutions, with a proven track record of building and scaling high‑performing teams in Japan. You should possess deep understanding of the programmatic advertising ecosystem, enterprise technology sales, and the unique characteristics of the Japanese market. Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence across organizational boundaries are essential. You must demonstrate the ability to translate global strategies into local execution while building sustainable growth in the Japanese market.

Key job responsibilities Team Leadership & Development

Build, lead, and mentor a team of Ad Tech Sales professionals in Japan

Develop and implement sales strategies and processes to achieve team revenue targets

Create and maintain a high-performance culture focused on customer obsession

Coach team members to develop their skills and advance their careers

Establish clear performance metrics and provide regular feedback

Strategic Business Development

Define and execute the regional Ad Tech sales strategy aligned with global objectives

Develop and maintain C-level relationships with key agencies and advertisers

Drive strategic partnership opportunities that accelerate market adoption

Lead complex contract negotiations and strategic deal structures

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including AWS, Product, and Solutions Architecture

Business Planning & Operations

Create and manage annual business plans and revenue forecasts

Establish team KPIs and track progress against objectives

Identify market opportunities and develop expansion strategies

Partner with regional and global leadership to align on priorities and resources

Drive operational excellence and process improvements

About the team We are a team focused on product-oriented sales preparation and sales enablement. While providing business support to agencies and collaborating closely with our internal sales teams, we play a crucial role in delivering feedback to product development. We also have many opportunities to promote collaboration with global teams and other departments. The real excitement of our work comes from enhancing the effectiveness of Amazon Ads marketing and advertising initiatives by leveraging vast amounts of data and utilizing innovative technology.

Basic Qualifications

12+ years of B2B sales experience

Knowledge of digital media (e.g. DSPs, programmatic media, premium digital video, performance advertising)

8+ years of experience in managing teams of 5+ people

Track record of successfully hiring and retaining sales talent

Proven ability of establishing and nurturing C-level relationships

Business level of written and verbal communication skills in English and verbal business communication skills in Japanese

Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

Experience of high level negotiation and successful internal and external relationship management

Experience in driving significant YoY revenue goals
