As the Senior Director of Outreach and Public Engagement you will manage the teams and processes that ensure effective, inclusive, and responsive interactions between the Governor’s Office and individuals, communities, and organizational partners across Minnesota. In partnership with the Deputy Chief of Staff for Engagement and External Affairs, you will lead internal coordination and management across functions in public engagement. The Senior Director supervises a team of Public Engagement Liaisons who integrate community perspectives and partner organization leadership into budget development, policy proposals, and state governance.
Responsibilities
- Develop workplace to implement the engagement strategies necessary to integrate community perspective into the development of budget and policy proposals.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Public Engagement team
- Ensure that public engagement activities are aligned, partnerships are strengthened and engagement across all levels of Minnesota is ongoing.
- Works across engagement functions to create a unified approach that supports the Governor's agenda.
- Convenes and participates in meetings between the Governor's Office and/or state agencies and community members and organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience leading public engagement, community engagement, and/or external relations activities.
- Experience managing staff and interns.
- Knowledge of Minnesota's communities, key partners, and issue areas.
- Ability to travel throughout the state of Minnesota and work evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in state government
- Understanding the historical context for racial inequity and its present-day implications in Minnesota
- Proficient in language(s) other than English
Physical and Additional Requirements
