Job Summary The Minnesota Lottery is looking for a Brand Strategist to serve as the lead for merchandising, retail brand presence, managing vendor relationships, and procuring promotional products. This position develops and manages statewide merchandising initiatives, oversees product promotions, leads content development for key retailer communications, and coordinates media promotions. The role also provides project direction and guidance to the Print Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the strategy, development, and implementation of the Lottery’s merchandising and promotional products programs, including budget management for both programs.
Direct and oversee execution of merchandising initiatives, providing guidance and task direction to the Print Coordinator and leading the merchandising committee.
Develop and manage communication strategies and written content for retailer‑facing channels such as retailer flyers, Digital Menu Boards, Retailer Services Portal, and other touchpoints.
Coordinate media promotions and licensed product approvals to ensure alignment with brand and marketing goals.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job.
Three years of experience in brand management, marketing, sales, or retail marketing to include the following:
Experience developing and editing marketing and promotional content for a variety of audiences and channels.
Deep knowledge of marketing, brand strategy, merchandising, or point of purchase materials.
Experience in managing vendor relationships or procurement processes.
Strong copywriting, communication, project management, and multitasking skills.
Ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.
****A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a closely related field will substitute for one (1) year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Procuring logoed merchandise with external vendors
Skills in project management tools such as Smartsheet, Asana, Wrike, or similar platforms.
Experience with project management, including budget and contract management.
Experience developing and implementing retail marketing or merchandising strategies that influence in‑store consumer behavior and support sales objectives.
Knowledge of Lottery standards and policies, needs of individual Lottery departments and requirements of Lottery promotions. (Brand and logo use, ADA messages, buying restrictions, etc.).
Physical Requirements Some lifting, standing, and bending when working to support promotional programs. May also need to sit for long periods of time.
