Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill three part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) student outreach assistant positions for the KidSpirit at Oregon State University (OSU). The Division of Extension and Engagement is core to OSU’s mission, and KidSpirit is a unit within that Division. The mission of KidSpirit is to provide young people with intentional, high-quality, equitable learning experiences. This role offers a unique opportunity to produce visually engaging content for marketing materials, impact reports, instructional guides, and promotional and educational videos during both summer and school-year programs.

Position Duties Key Responsibilities:

Graphic Designers:

Design and produce marketing materials such as flyers, posters, banners, digital ads, impact reports, instructor guides, and student guides.

Collaborate with the team to ensure designs meet program needs and brand standards.

Contribute to the visual design aspects of KidSpirit’s web presence and promotional campaigns.

Experience with Adobe InDesign preferred.

Photographers:

Capture high-quality photographs of KidSpirit programs, events, and activities.

Edit, process, and prepare photos for marketing materials, social media, and web content.

Collaborate with graphic designers to integrate photos into design projects.

Video Editors:

Develop and edit video content highlighting KidSpirit programs, events, and promotional efforts.

Assist in planning, filming, and producing video projects.

Produce videos that effectively convey KidSpirit’s impact and offerings.

May assist in leading specialized activities for children (e.g., birthday parties, event childcare, ACES) to promote skill development and maintain a safe learning environment.

Qualifications Must be currently enrolled as a student (high school or college).

Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible.

Must meet minimal enrollment standards (examples provided).

Preferred Skills

Working towards a degree in Graphic Design, Photography, Videography, Visual Arts, Media Studies, or related fields.

Experience in the field encouraged.

Demonstrated experience with a strong portfolio.

Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.) and other multimedia tools.

Excellent communication, teamwork, proactive attitude, and flexibility.

Current, valid First Aid certification by start of programming.

RRCAN certification by start of programming.

Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety certification by start of programming.

Fundamentals of Learning.

OSU Youth Safety and Compliance requirements, standards of behavior, and mandatory reporting training.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule Positions involve part-time hours (max 20 hours per week during academic terms, up to 40 hours per week during breaks and summer).
