Customer Account Specialist
Customer Account Specialist | Pay $22/Hour | 5 Days On-site | 6 Month Contract-to-Hire Job Description Fields billing inquiries from customers and businesses, via phone, fax, or email. Investigates and resolves complex customer service issues related to billing and customer accounts. Verifies issues are resolved by contacting customers. Gathers and analyzes data regarding customer accounts/utilities usage. Makes billing rate changes and enters appropriate data into billing systems. Receives and logs payments to be applied to the correct accounts. Prepares daily/monthly reports and logs of daily work activities to be sent to manager. Responsibilities The incumbents will be responsible for resolving customer complaints or billing queries, correcting errors in customer accounts, processing changes to accounts, and assisting customers with any other issues within an assigned area of responsibility. Work may also include: - keying billing information into relevant systems, collecting, compiling, and recording evidence and data; - generating service orders; - contacting customers to resolve complaints or inquiries; - corresponding with internal or external departments or business; - remaining knowledgeable of City codes as well as interpreting readouts and readings gathered from utilities meters to apply necessary actions to customer accounts. - Computing and processing adjustments to customer accounts - Working various reports in the area and contacting customers via letter or phone for purposes of resolving the issue - Maintaining various reports, account logs and files and the timely submission of same to supervisor and appropriate staff; Skills Customer service, Account management, Collection, quality assurance Additional Skills & Qualifications Two years of related experience in customer service or back-office billing An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification Knowledge (some combination of the following): General knowledge of the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word etc.); ability to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks under time constraint; problem-solving; good listening skills; Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
