Summary Pottawattamie County Auditor's office is excited to announce the hiring of a Real Estate and Drainage Specialist.

Essential Functions

Maintains drainage district records and attends hearings to ensure accurate documentation of hearings, bid lettings, annexations, permits, agreements, resolutions, publications, and annual fees.

Assists drainage trustees by maintaining records and supporting related administrative responsibilities.

Maintains accurate real estate ownership, legal description, and transfer records in both physical and electronic systems.

Reviews, verifies, and finalizes property transfer and ownership data entered into the real estate system.

Examines legal documents received from the Recorder’s Office, including deeds, contracts, condemnations, and related instruments, to determine required updates to property records.

Reviews land surveys and legal descriptions to process property splits, combinations, transfers, and plats accurately.

Responds to telephone, email, and counter inquiries regarding real estate ownership, legal descriptions, and property history.

Researches plat books, transfer books, and other legal documents to verify information and provide assistance to the public and internal stakeholders.

Prepares departmental reports and related documentation in accordance with established procedures.

Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability

High attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies in legal descriptions, surveys, and property records.

Working knowledge of real estate documents and the ability to interpret legal descriptions and ownership information.

Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather and validate information from maps, records, and legal documents.

Knowledge of office operations, recordkeeping practices, and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Ability to maintain accurate, organized, and complete records in both electronic and physical formats.

Proficiency with computers, databases, and standard office technology.

Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to effectively assist the public and internal stakeholders.

Sound judgment to appropriately apply laws and regulations.

Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Essential Education, Certification, and/or Licenses Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Salary $21.53 - $28.95 per hour
