
Human Resources Specialist

Our client is seeking candidates for a Human Resources Specialist role that will be responsible for supporting and administering a wide range of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, performance management, policy implementation, and HR recordkeeping. This position plays a key role in supporting the organization's workforce strategy and ensuring HR operations are effective, compliant, and aligned with business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the full employee life cycle, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding
Coordinate recruiting activities, including posting job announcements, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and supporting hiring managers throughout the selection process
Administer new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition for employees into the organization
Maintain employee personnel files, HRIS records, and other employment-related documentation in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements
Assist with benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and employee inquiries
Provide guidance to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and best practices
Support employee relations efforts by responding to workplace concerns, escalating issues when appropriate, and helping promote a positive work environment
Assist with performance management processes, including evaluation tracking, documentation, and manager support
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Support leave administration, accommodation processes, and other employment actions in coordination with management and external providers as needed
Prepare HR reports, metrics, and workforce data for leadership review
Assist in the development, revision, and communication of HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates
Support training and professional development initiatives for employees and supervisors
Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and other HR-related reporting requirements
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information at all times
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Human Resources function
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of HR principles, practices, and applicable labor laws
Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization
Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to interpret policies and apply sound judgment
Ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team
Strong customer-service orientation and professionalism
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of three – five (3–5) years of progressively responsible human resources experience
Working knowledge of core HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, compliance, and records administration Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR
Experience supporting a government contractor, professional services firm, or multi-state employer
Experience with benefits administration, compliance reporting, and HR analytics
Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and electronic onboarding platforms
