
Technical Designer

The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise and knowledge in apparel technical design concepts, practices, and procedures particularly in the contemporary women’s market. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring quality fit, desired appearance, and company quality standards are met and maintained, including managing all aspects of technical garment specification development and technical fit comments. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish departmental goals. Candidate will have proven success in an Apparel Technical Design environment or in a related field.
Responsibilities
Maintaining tech packs to create a clear and concise record of all styles through comments, specs, images, while keeping up with daily changes and additions for each style. Attend/conducts fit sessions to review overall fit, balance, and details of the garment from prototype through production and finalize grading. Opens up patterns and reviews corrections to communicate with vendors. Preps, organizes, and creates mock-ups for fit samples. Works with cross functional teams on issues to make collective creative decisions that will influence sales of garments. Research issues and develops libraries to benefit future workload. Attends meetings to learn new ideas, systems to increase knowledge and awareness of changes and progressions within the company. Required Skills and Qualifications
Minimum 10 + years of direct technical design experience in the better-quality contemporary women’s market. Experience in technical design of apparel with relevant experience in pattern making. Knowledge of denims, wovens, knits and sweaters, all categories, is a must. Experience in multiple sizes from juniors, missy to plus Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, sewing techniques, trim and technical knowledge of fabric and construction. Ability to analyze workload and plan accordingly with Exceptional follow-up skills. Has worked with and has general knowledge with Web-based T/P systems, preferably Centric. Microsoft proficient, preferred knowledge of Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop Strong organizational skills Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy. This job will require working in the office, weekdays during normal business hours.
