Senior Designer

Complete projects from start to finish on a variety of project types including steel, concrete, and masonry structures. Review and address construction administration items such as submittals, RFIs, and field letters. Stamp and certify structural drawings with an active Professional Engineering license. Work with local jurisdiction and city engineers to assist in the permitting process.
Mentor and train younger engineers in structural design principles and technical abilities. Network with prospective clients to win projects. Write engineering proposals for prospective work. Attend marketing events to promote company services. Innovate and improve structural design tools. Review structural drawings of other engineers to ensure code compliance.
Provide structural design, calculations, and details for earth retention structures, seismic retrofits of existing structures, industrial and manufacturing buildings, and commercial projects including steel, concrete, masonry, and tilt‑up buildings. Draft construction documents and structural connection details. Coordinate with clients through the design phase on architectural layouts and how they interact with the structural design. Provide necessary field support during construction and collaborate with team members to complete projects within given timelines.
Requires up to 5% domestic travel for site visits and client meetings. Salary: $113,651–$120,000 per year.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience in structural engineering design.
5 years of professional experience with commercial building design (wood, steel, concrete, masonry, PT slab design, and tilt‑up).
5 years experience using structural finite element analysis software (RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Elements, STAAD).
5 years experience with CAD drafting software (AutoCAD and Revit).
5 years drafting construction documents and structural connections.
5 years using Microsoft Excel for calculations.
5 years collaborating with architects, clients, and construction teams.
5 years mentoring and training younger engineers.
5 years networking with potential clients.
5 years designing earth retention structures.
5 years reviewing other engineers’ work for code compliance.
3 years developing innovative structural design tools for improved efficiency.
