1st Assistant Golf Professional

Overview The Assistant Golf Professional assists the Head Golf Professional in the management of day-to-day Golf Operations of the facility. The position is responsible to supervise and manage total golf operations in the absence of the Head Golf Professional. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total satisfaction of all Members.

Newnan Country Club was founded in 1919 and is a private member owned club. The membership total is small and plays about 15,000 rounds per year. The Board wants to provide a special experience and the culture of the club is very unique. The club added a teaching buidling in 2023 to allow members to take lessons year round. The Assistant Professional spends less time working counter shifts than similar private clubs. The club is very active with tournaments and events which lead to greater opportunities for our staff members.

Experience Required

Prefer PGA PGM Associate Program Level 1 but open to less experience for the right candidate

College degree preferred.

Customer service experience. Expanded Golf Knowledge.

Proven track record of team management, organizational and coaching skills.

Experience with tee sheets and inventory systems.

Experience with Golf Tournament software

High school diploma or equivalent.

Essential Responsibilities

Train and Implement Procedures for Golf and Pro Shop Attendants, and Outside Services Staff.

Assign and develop work-efficient schedules to meet staffing needs of Golf Operations, Pro Shop, Outside Services, and Clubs repair business, and as warranted, recruit and hire staff to provide superior level of member services.

Assist Head Golf Professional with merchandising and inventory controls. Help with buying decisions, sales and member special orders.

Effective communication with staff, members, and Senior Management.

Promote all Club activities, events and services, including selling and managing tournaments, and other special events (scheduling, directing, and utilizing staff to perform necessary functions to provide successful tournaments and special events).

Direct and guide staff to promote golf clinics, private lessons, and adult, junior and senior programs, and assist, as necessary, to ensure member satisfaction and that Club Standards are met.

Demonstrate the ability to teach and provide instruction.

The club also encourages golf staff members to play with members.
