Vision of Excellence The Dyslexia Trainer supports students with dyslexia and related neurodivergences by delivering a structured, evidence‑based intervention program with fidelity. It requires consistent progress monitoring, and strong collaboration with teachers, leaders, and families. The Dyslexia Trainer is expected to embody the network's culture values by maintaining high expectations and consistent accountability; building professional, trust‑based relationships with students, staff, and families; and demonstrating deep efficacy—the belief that students can grow and that adults can create the conditions for that growth to happen.
Training & Professional Development
Participate in required training prior to delivering instruction. Training will include one or more of the following:
In Building, Guided Book Study
In person conference
Online workshop
Maintain current certification/training
Demonstrate understanding of dyslexia (root causes, struggles, strengths, self‑regulation tools, etc.)
Instruction
Provide 1:1 dyslexia intervention sessions that are structured, explicit, and systematic, using the approved network program
Ensure instruction is aligned to student need and any IEP/504/ELP accommodations (if applicable)
Create a supportive learning environment that builds student confidence
Plan and deliver lessons that include:
Explicit modeling and guided practice
Immediate, corrective feedback
Frequent checks for understanding
Progress Monitoring & Data Analysis
Administer all required diagnostic assessments
Identify students for whom services are appropriate
Track student progress using approved data tools, and maintain timely documentation
Communicate student progress clearly and regularly to school leaders, classroom teachers, and families
Partner with classroom teachers to support skill transfer from intervention to classroom
Collaborate with special education teams to align services
Participate in data meetings, student support meetings, and parent conferences as needed
Provide families with clear strategies to support learning at home
Equity, Relationships & Mission Alignment
Ensure students with dyslexia receive the high quality, consistent intervention needed to make meaningful progress
Hold students to high expectations with structure, encouragement, and accountability
Strengthen relationships with teachers and families through communication and problem solving
Model efficacy and mission alignment by demonstrating the belief that students can grow
