Balance Technology Inc. is a manufacturer of precision measurement and testing equipment based near Ann Arbor, Michigan. We are seeking a Technical Writer to create manuals, guides, reports, proposals, and digital content that support our precision balancing machines and testing services. In this role, you will translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation for engineers, operators, and customers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and subject-matter experts to gather and verify technical information.
  • Write and edit technical documentation including manuals, SOPs, process guides, and reports.
  • Develop marketing content such as brochures, product sheets, web copy, and presentations.
  • Review and maintain existing materials for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Create diagrams, charts, infographics, and other visuals to illustrate complex procedures and technical concepts.
  • Manage documents in our content management systems and maintain proper version control.
  • Assist with layout, formatting, and production of print and digital materials.
  • Ensure all content aligns with Balance Technology’s brand, quality standards, and technical accuracy.
  • Stay current with trends and best practices in technical writing, documentation, and marketing communications.


Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical writing, documentation, or marketing content.
  • Experience supporting both technical documentation and marketing materials preferred.


Skills & Tools:

  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat).
  • Experience with content management systems and document version control.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
