To coordinate the entire children’s ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church.
Reporting Relationships:
The Children’s Ministry Director reports to the Pastor on a day-to-day basis.
He or she reports regularly on his or her progress to the Pastor and Session.
The Children’s Ministry Director should regularly attend and participate in staff meetings.
Responsibilities as Director:
Coordinating Sunday school, nursery, Wednesday night program, & Children’s Church on a regular basis.
Coordinating other major events such as VBS, Fall Fest, Nativity Play and Easter Journey or any other special events done for the children.
Recruiting and training volunteers (teachers and assistants) for all ministries related to children’s ministry (must lead at least 1 training session per year).
Collecting and submitting background checks to the state along with abuse prevention training for leaders.
Evaluating curriculum and selecting curriculum that is theologically sound (consistent with Grace’s theological commitments) and appropriate for children.
Ordering, organizing, and distributing curriculum to teachers.
Communicating with teachers about how classes are going, helping with troubleshooting as needed.
Regularly check-in with Children’s team members
Supplying all volunteers with an email list of all other volunteers, to aid in finding substitutions if needed
Sending out a weekly reminder to those volunteers scheduled to work
Making sure classrooms are set-up each Sunday morning and Wednesday night
Restocking supplies as needed (snacks, cups, hand sanitizer, etc.)
Cleaning toys and washing changing pad/sheets periodically, making sure all toys have batteries and are in working order or making sure that there is a system to get this done
Teaching children’s classes on a rotation or as needed.
Make specific recommendations regarding the budget as it relates to children’s ministry.
Interacting with parents for issues relating to children’s ministry.
Requirements Requirements:
Must have a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.
Must have willingness to be submissive to the church leadership and the doctrines of the Church.
Must believe in the mission of Grace PCA.
Must have competence and experience in childhood education and ministry to children.
Must have an ability to lead and be part of a team and work harmoniously with others.
How to Apply Compensation & Schedule:
60 hours a month (15 hours a week).
Expected to be at church every Sunday, but will be allowed four missed Sundays in a calendar year, accumulated at one per quarter, without any loss in pay. Thereafter, there will be a loss of $250 for each Sunday missed.
