This role is not about academic exploration. It is a leadership imperative. You will be accountable for the academic strategy in action, establish rigorous standards, diagnose performance shortfalls, and develop high-performing teams to produce concrete student outcomes. You will convert our scientific principles into operational excellence and advocate for this model on a global stage.
What You Will Be Doing
- Designing academic structures that transform learning science into actionable direction for curriculum design, student engagement mechanisms, and application development.
- Conducting academic performance assessments with Heads of Academics to confirm that school teams remain aligned, responsible, and effective in delivering results.
- Analyzing data, conducting interviews, and performing observations to produce comprehensive academic ecosystem evaluations that identify the most critical obstacles to accelerated learning and recommend targeted solutions.
- Establishing strategic coherence through planning processes, continuous feedback systems, and progress tracking to sustain focus on learning objectives.
- Serving as 2 Hour Learning's representative in high-profile settings—ranging from keynote presentations to meetings with Ministries of Education—to influence how education systems globally approach schooling.

- Working on disconnected curriculum initiatives that lack systemic impact.
- Producing theoretical research detached from measurable student outcomes or operational execution.
- Transferring accountability for performance to mid-level managers or external advisors.
- Depending on institutional reputation or academic theory to convince critical audiences.
Director Of Academics Key Responsibilities
Expand and refine 2 Hour Learning's validated academic model by harmonizing execution across schools, raising leadership expectations, and establishing yourself as the authoritative voice of a movement built on rigorous science and demonstrated impact.
Basic Requirements
- Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field
- At least 7 years in academic or EdTech leadership roles, leading a team of staff/employees (not an informal peer leader role, such as grade-level lead); you must have been responsible for hiring, monitoring performance, coaching, and making termination decisions
- Experience driving learning outcomes for students and upholding student performance standards
- Experience applying AI or emerging technologies to improve education, such as through personalized learning, adaptive learning, AI agents, etc.
- Experience managing academic teams of 50+ people (e.g., the teams you managed directly executed curriculum, instruction, or assessment)
- Experience interacting directly with students, teachers, or school leaders in a professional setting

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $200 USD/hour, which equates to $400,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
