The Affton School District seeks an assistant superintendent to provide leadership aligned with the district mission, vision, core values and portrait of graduate competencies.
The assistant superintendent will lead academic and student services across the district which includes areas such as curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional development, social-emotional learning, career and college readiness, MSIP accountability, federal programs, early childhood education, parents as teachers, discipline hearings, summer school, virtual and alternative programs, health services, tuition-based programs and other duties as assigned. Qualified applicants must possess experience in a number of these areas while demonstrating the ability to learn quickly and continually acquire necessary knowledge and skills. The assistant superintendent is expected to evaluate programs, create proposals and make data-driven decisions and recommendations to the superintendent. The position requires working collaboratively with all administrators, teachers and support staff members to set goals and measure progress.
Interview Streamvideo screenings will be sent to candidates via email on April 9th, due on April 12th.
Application and Interview Stream video screenings will be reviewed on April 13th.
First round interviews will take place on Friday, April 17th.
Details
12-month position with district-recognized holidays, paid sick and personal leave, and 20 vacation days
Administrator contract
Minimum starting salary $170,000, competitive salary commensurate with experience and education
District provided benefits package that includes employee health, dental, life and vision insurance
Contract begins 07/01/2026
Qualifications
Requires a master’s degree, a doctorate is preferred
Requires Missouri superintendent certification, or eligible to obtain superintendent certification
Requires three years of successful administrator experience and five years of teaching experience
Prefers experience in public school central office administration
Requires proven organizational and instructional leadership skills
Requires a strong work ethic and ability to think critically and solve problems creatively
Requires evidence of a strong professional learning network that supports innovative practices
Requires collaborative and interpersonal skills with willingness to learn and work productively on a team
Requires evidence of ability to implement and sustain programs focused on improving student achievement within a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural school setting with energy and enthusiasm
Requires the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents and the community
Requires skills as a connected/digital leader
