Overview
United Community is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Mortgage Servicing Specialist to support the Bank’s mortgage third-party sub-servicing relationships. This role partners closely with the Mortgage Servicing Administrator to ensure servicing operations, compliance, and reporting requirements are executed accurately and efficiently. The Mortgage Servicing Specialist plays a key role in monitoring sub-servicer performance, supporting audits and regulatory compliance, and identifying opportunities to improve servicing processes and mitigate risk.

What You’ll Do
Assist the Mortgage Servicing Administrator with managing third-party relationships and daily operations with mortgage sub-servicer(s)
Maintain, create, and review daily, monthly, and quarterly servicing reports
Filter and route correspondence and requests from sub-servicer(s) to the appropriate internal departments
Approve or recommend PMI cancellation requests, collateral releases, service charge waivers, and other servicing exceptions
Support day-to-day servicing functions by identifying operational risks and vulnerabilities at the loan‑level and portfolio‑level
Develop and implement corrective action plans for servicing issues and provide guidance to prevent future occurrences
Evaluate sub‑servicer processes and recommend improvements to reduce business risk and enhance servicing performance
Develop and utilize exception reporting to identify problem areas and improve departmental performance
Maintain working knowledge of current servicing compliance regulations, including CFPB, foreclosure, loss mitigation, claims procedures, and HUD requirements
Participate in scheduled sub‑servicer site visits
Review servicing operational and quality assurance processes and recommend technology enhancements to streamline workflow
Assist team members through internal and external training resources
Provide data and documentation for state, federal, and third‑party audits related to servicing activities
Provide feedback and trend analysis from quality control results and counterparty scorecards
Requirements For Success
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 2 years of loan servicing experience or equivalent mortgage industry experience
Knowledge of government mortgage products and documentation
Working knowledge of agency investor, regulatory, and servicing requirements
Knowledge of GNMA servicing requirements preferred
Experience with loan servicing guidelines, procedures, restrictions, and reporting requirements
Experience with loan accounting systems and general accounting principles
Knowledge of tax and insurance escrow operations
Familiarity with servicing software and electronic reporting processes; MERS experience preferred but not required
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and customer service skills
Ability to exercise independent judgment and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to complete all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act / Anti‑Money Laundering training
