Licensed Camp Director - Fitzmorris BONUS ELIGIBLE

Inspire. Create. Lead. Camp Fitzmorris is located at Fitzmorris Elementary School and is designed for age 5-10. Campers enjoy a summer filled with belonging, discovery, and play in a secure school setting. The site features a large outdoor playground designed for creativity and exploration.

Role Overview The Camp Director is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all daily activities for the Camp Fitzmorris Day Camp Program. They operate the center in accordance with licensing rules, plan and implement the school‑age childcare center, and supervise staff. The director must be onsite at all times.

What You'll Do

Demonstrate maturity of judgment, administrative ability, and skill to supervise school‑age children.

Provide a safe, healthy, and positive environment for campers and staff.

Schedule team‑building activities, leadership opportunities, and volunteer opportunities for the age group.

Facilitate all field trips and discipline to maintain positive daily outcomes.

Assess program and recommend changes for optimum functioning.

Establish procedures for handling health, behavior, and other problems, reporting incidents to the Recreation Coordinator.

Follow Colorado State Laws and Regulations regarding childcare, health code, and transportation of groups.

Dates and Trainings Daily schedule will vary between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday‑through‑Friday from June 1 through August 18.

Paid training sporadically March‑May.

Parent meeting at Fitzmorris Elementary School will be held on May 19 2026.

Bonus A one‑time bonus of $300 will be paid to eligible part‑time camp staff who work an average of 32 hours per week or more during nine of the eleven weeks listed below. Eligible staff include licensed director camps and licensed lead camps. The period is June 1 2026 – August 14 2026. Staff must apply by April 15 2026. Bonus scheduled for August 28 2026 payroll.

Bonuses are taxable income and subject to standard tax withholdings.

Job Qualifications

Must be 21 years old.

Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage, and a clean driving record for the past three years.

Have the ability to drive a 12‑passenger van.

Must complete up to 15 hours of training before May 29 2026.

Must have a satisfactory review with the Central Registry of Child Protection.

Experience caring for children ages 5 to 10 in a public atmosphere is required.

Must have customer service experience and good conflict management skills.

Knowledge of youth games, activities, and arts and crafts projects.

Ability to be on your feet for 6‑8 hours and lift 40 lbs.

Associate is expected to exhibit district core values of honesty, attitude, loyalty, and teamwork.

Will receive CPR/first aid, medication administration, and universal precautions certification required within 90 days of hire.

Must provide three references.

Education and Experience At least one of the following qualifications:

A bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the following areas: child development, psychology, early childhood education, early childhood special education, elementary education, elementary special education, family and human development, family studies, special education, outdoor education, recreation, or human services; or

An associate’s degree or sixty semester credit hours from an accredited college or university and three months (455 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four or more children ten or older who are not related to the individual; or

Twenty‑one months (3,185 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four or more children over the ages of four who are not related to the individual and one of the following qualifications: completion of six semester hours from a regionally accredited college or university; or completion of forty clock hours of training in coursework applicable to school‑age children within the first nine months in the director position. The forty clock hours of training cannot include any of the required trainings as listed in rule section 2.508; or

A current early childhood professional credential level II or higher in version 3.0 as determined by the Department based on its Early Childhood Professional Credential 3.0 Worksheet, found at About the ECPC.

Work Environment

Noise levels range from moderate to loud, often due to active children, group interactions, or busy transportation settings.

The position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, chemically treated water, or other environmental irritants.

Work may occur in environments with poor acoustics, distractions, or high activity levels.

Occasional travel by vehicle may be required, with exposure to traffic, road construction, and varying road conditions.

Some tasks will be performed in wet, humid, or damp environments, such as pools or aquatic facilities.

Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, heat, cold, snow, and humidity.

Physical Activities

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.

Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or sit on the floor as needed during activities or tasks.

Ability to reach, grasp, and handle small objects, tools, or equipment with precision.

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Ability to climb, crawl, or maneuver in tight spaces to complete maintenance or activity‑related tasks.

Requires adequate hearing to recognize and respond to sounds, signals, or distress in a variety of environments.

Duties may require sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, bending, or stooping for extended periods of time.

Ability to maintain balance and coordination while assisting with physical activities or working on uneven terrain.

Ability to monitor participants, ensure safety, and respond to signals or emergencies.

Ability to react quickly and appropriately to the physical needs or emergencies of children or participants.

Ability to work most of the day on your feet, performing both active supervision and hands‑on tasks.

Ability to communicate effectively, including speaking loudly, when necessary, in noisy or outdoor environments.
