Project Director

NextGen | GTA: A Kelly Telecom Company, WorkFromHome, ND, United States

Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview

We are partnering with a leading industrial construction and energy solutions organization to hire a Site Project Director to lead large-scale EPC and heavy industrial construction projects.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for site-level execution across complex builds, including boiler systems, steam generation, and multidisciplinary construction scopes. The position will begin remotely during early project phases and transition to an on-site leadership role in the Midwest as the project ramps.

This is a true “builder” opportunity —ideal for a leader who thrives in ambiguity and is excited to stand up and operationalize a new business line from the ground up. You will have full ownership of execution strategy, team development, and site operations, serving as the senior-most leader on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead overall site execution strategy, including planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management
  • Direct and develop Site Project Managers and field teams to ensure alignment across all project phases
  • Oversee safety programs and quality control processes, ensuring full regulatory compliance
  • Manage procurement strategy, subcontractor selection, and contract administration
  • Coordinate daily field operations across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and piping scopes
  • Serve as the primary client-facing leader, managing stakeholder communication and expectations
  • Drive commissioning, testing, and final project turnover to ensure successful project delivery
  • Establish processes, workflows, and operational structure for a growing business line

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in construction project management within heavy industrial, utility, or power generation environments
  • Proven track record leading large-scale EPC or industrial construction projects from preconstruction through turnover
  • Strong expertise in site execution, including safety, quality, cost, and schedule management
  • Experience leading and developing Project Managers and field personnel
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous, or startup-like environments
  • Experience with contract management, procurement strategy, and subcontractor oversight
  • Knowledge of permitting processes, regulatory compliance, and construction safety standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with boiler systems, steam generation, or related equipment
  • Background in boilermaking or closely related trades
  • Experience building new processes, workflows, or business lines
  • Familiarity with Primavera or similar project scheduling tools
  • Knowledge of ASME, NFPA, and welding procedures
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Boiler Systems / Steam Generation
  • Multidisciplinary Construction (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Piping)
  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based bonus
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement savings plan with company contribution
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Career growth and leadership advancement opportunities

Additional Information

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis now and in the future
  • Willingness to transition to an on-site role in the Midwest is required
