Residential Field Specialist-Downtown

Overview Position responsible for inspection, data collection, recording, and analysis of all assigned residential field assessments in Marion County. Ensures all residential field information is accurately measured and input into the property tax database in a timely manner so it can be used by the Assessment Division and other city and county agencies. Requires knowledge of established laws and IAAO standards, with independent judgment applied when no policies exist. Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license and reports to the District Manager of Residential.

Position Responsibilities

Ensure all residential property in Marion County is assessed per Indiana law, DLGF rules, and IAAO standards.

Perform quality control checks on work product to ensure additions or deletions of property are correctly processed.

Read and analyze site plans and construction blueprints for residential parcels.

Coordinate with taxpayers or designees to gain access to property as required.

Coordinate with GIS, permit, zoning departments and other agencies as necessary.

Schedule and prioritize routing and workloads of assigned parcels.

Assist all persons who visit office, call, or meet with manager or subordinates in the field.

Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum one year of prior work-related experience.

Certified by DLGF as Level II Assessor/Appraiser or willing to earn certification within 12 months of hiring.

Effective project management, computer, math, geometry, and communication skills.

Knowledge of imaging systems and related software.

Ability to assist customers professionally, face‑to‑face, by email, or telephone.

Attention to detail, typing, drafting reports, and effective oral and written communication.

Bilingual preferred.
