Overview
Job Purpose
Intercontinental Exchange is looking for a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with strong SQL and PL/SQL programming skills to join our fast-growing company. You will be a member of the Enterprise DBA team, responsible for database management, clustering, backup/recovery, and more. You will also serve as a production DBA to maintain our production systems and occasionally participate in development projects.
Responsibilities
Perform database administrative tasks to support production systems
Provide support for Development and QA teams and environments
Identify opportunities to fine-tune and optimize database systems and applications
Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
5+ years of experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of relational databases
Experienced Oracle DBA with hands-on expertise in Core Oracle Administration, RAC, MAA, Data Guard, and related technologies
Thorough knowledge of ASM and Grid Infrastructure
Solid SQL and PL/SQL coding skills
Experience working in Unix/Linux environments, including kernel and OS tuning
Performance tuning and troubleshooting using tools and techniques such as OEM Grid Control, Tuning Advisor, AWR, Statspack, TKPROF, SQL Trace, SQL Profiles, SPM, Trace Events, Waits & Latches
Proficient in Shell scripting
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to react quickly and precisely under pressure
Ability to independently complete projects with minimal guidance
Experience building and maintaining infrastructure to support a large server farm
Strong work ethic; willing to participate in an on-call rotation and support after-hours and weekend work as needed
Comfortable leveraging AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to improve productivity, automate tasks, and accelerate problem-solving
Ability to learn new technologies independently; self-motivated, intellectually curious, and willing to both learn and share knowledge
Nice to Have
PostgreSQL administration experience is a strong plus
MySQL administration experience is a plus
Oracle GoldenGate knowledge is a plus
Exadata experience is a plus
Hands-on experience using AI-assisted tools in a database or infrastructure context is a plus
