Director of Community Engagement, Alpha - $200,000/year USD
Crossover, Santa Barbara, CA, United States
Santa Barbara families don't chase trends—they create them. Alpha is opening a campus in one of California's most discerning, network‑centric communities. This is not another private school competing on facilities. Students finish their core academics in two concentrated hours using AI‑driven learning platforms, then dedicate the remainder of the day to developing public speaking ability, critical reasoning, and hands‑on execution. Outcomes position students in the nation's top 1%. The model delivers. The challenge is whether it can establish credibility here.
From year zero through year one, this is a ground‑up enrollment leadership position. In Santa Barbara, that requires building trust within close‑knit social networks where reputation amplifies and errors endure. You will design intimate information sessions, conduct private campus visits, engage families in one‑on‑one discussions, and strategically assemble the founding cohort. After enrollment stabilizes and an admissions director is brought on, your focus shifts to serving as the campus's lead parent‑facing executive, maintaining alignment and converting satisfied families into active advocates within their circles.
What You Will Be Doing
- Direct the complete enrollment pipeline from initial inquiry through signed enrollment agreement until the 25‑student cohort is filled
- Design and facilitate curated information sessions and private campus tours that attract aligned families while filtering out unsuitable candidates
- Establish visibility and credibility through consistent face‑to‑face networking, private consultations, and strategic community alliances throughout Santa Barbara
- Act as the principal point of contact for prospective and enrolled families, providing concierge‑tier, personalized service
- Articulate and defend Alpha's AI‑enhanced educational approach to discerning, questioning parents with clarity and conviction
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Operating within a conventional 9–5 framework; early mornings, late afternoons, and selected evenings are part of the role
- Depending on an established admissions or marketing infrastructure to generate leads
- Enrolling every interested applicant to meet a quota; preserving cohort integrity outweighs raw numbers
- Remaining office‑bound; this position demands regular, visible presence throughout the community
