Position Overview Star Children’s Dress Company, a growing apparel company focused on producing fashionable yet affordable dresses, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Fashion Designer with 2 years of experience.

This role supports the design and product development team in executing seasonal collections. The Assistant Fashion Designer will work under the direction of senior designers and contribute to design preparation, technical documentation, and sample development while gaining hands-on experience in fashion design.

Key Responsibilities

Assist senior designers in the development of seasonal collections, including research on trends, colors, fabrics, and trims for apparel

Create and revise digital sketches and technical flats using Adobe Illustrator to support design communication

Prepare and maintain specification sheets, measurement charts, and basic construction details under the supervision of senior design staff

Support the sample development process by organizing fabrics, trims, and color standards for seasonal collections

Track sample progress and assist during fittings by recording comments and updating design documentation based on feedback

Maintain organized design archives, including fabric libraries, trim references, and seasonal records

Conduct market and competitor research within the categories to support design direction

Assist in preparing presentation boards and materials for internal meetings and line reviews

Collaborate with production and merchandising teams to ensure design documentation is accurate and up to date

Provide administrative and project support to the design team, including maintaining calendars and development trackers

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field

2 years of relevant experience in fashion design or product development

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; knowledge of Photoshop is a plus

Basic understanding of garment construction, textiles, and design principles

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

Strong communication and time management skills
