About Us:

Formed in 2023 as a 501(c)(3), the Texas Immigration Law Council (Council) is a nonpartisan statewide immigration legal resource and policy organization working to protect and promote the rights of immigrants and refugees of all nationalities in Texas. Through coalition building work, education, and legal technical support, the Council works to expand access to justice and create federal, state, and municipal immigration reforms that protect the rights of immigrants and refugees in Texas.

Project Summary:

TxILC, in collaboration with partner organizations, seeks a Habeas Attorney to support the Texas Habeas Project (THP)—a coordinated, statewide effort to expand access to federal habeas relief for individuals held in immigration detention. Habeas petitions are increasingly one of the only viable legal mechanisms to challenge prolonged or indefinite detention.
