Loan Processor – Job Description
Position Title: Loan Processor
Title Grade: I (Junior) or II (Senior)
Reports to: Branch Manager or Branch Support
Department: Processing or Branch Manager Support
Status: Regular, Full-Time or Part Time
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Pay Grade: Hourly Wage
Summary & Purpose Of Position The Loan Processor is responsible for providing timely customer service by proactively communicating with customers to obtain the necessary documents, ordering title work and other third party documents, and submitting loans to underwriting.
Primary Position-specific Responsibilities
Obtain missing documentation and/or corrections as necessary
Initiate the title work process
Initiate the appraisal process
Perform clerical functions
Stay abreast of changing company policy, mortgage regulations, laws, and generally accepted industry best practices, and be willing to take initiative to train and stay informed
Complete other duties as assigned
Essential Skills And Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required
At least one (1) year of hands-on loan processing experience in the mortgage banking industry
Must have exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Must be dependable with meeting deadlines and managing time
Have an ability to work independently on multiple files simultaneously
Possess strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Education/Experience
An Associate’s Degree or certification in finance, mathematics, accounting, or another equivalent field of study (Associates degree can be substituted for more than two (2) years of loan processing experience)
Previous experience with Encompass, a plus
