Job Summary: The
ADU Project Manager
is responsible for leading and managing ADU projects from initial planning and permitting through design coordination and construction completion. This role guarantees timely delivery of projects, adherence to budget constraints, and full compliance with building codes and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Project Planning & Execution
Lead all phases of ADU projects — site evaluation, design coordination, permitting, construction, and close-out.
Work closely with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to define project scope and objectives.
Prepare and maintain detailed project schedules and budgets.
Monitor project milestones, track progress, and report updates to senior leadership and clients.
Permits & Compliance
Coordinate with local authorities, prepare and submit permit applications and documentation required for ADU approval in San Diego.
Ensure all plans and construction practices comply with zoning, building codes, and ADU regulations.
Follow up on permit status and manage any revisions or resubmissions.
Team & Contractor Coordination
Hire, schedule, and manage subcontractors, ensuring licenses and insurance compliance.
Conduct regular site visits to supervise work quality, safety, and schedule adherence.
Ensure proper communication between field teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
Client Communication & Documentation
Serve as main point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide clear updates on progress, timelines, budgets, and any issues encountered.
Maintain and organize all project documentation, contracts, change orders, and reports.
Quality Assurance & Risk Management
Maintain quality control standards at every stage of the project.
Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
Enforce safety guidelines on the job site.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
6–10 years
of experience in construction or project management, with ADU or residential construction experience highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of
ADU permitting process, construction methods, and local building codes (especially California / San Diego) .
Excellent
communication, coordination, and organizational skills .
Proficiency with project management software and construction documentation.
Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
