
Senior Advisor, Business Development - Remote (Midwest)

Overview The APL Logistics Business Developer will focus on developing business opportunities with companies not transacting with APLL’s new logo. The role is responsible for lead generation, relationship management, opportunity identification, solutions development and closing of deals. The resource will align activities to support the strategic initiatives of APL Logistics and will play a lead role in designing solutions accordingly. Solutions will be comprised of key initiatives including:
Expansion of services including intermodal, US-Mexico cross border, domestic FTL/LTL, order management services, transloading/distribution, ocean freight forwarding, and associated supply chain solutions.
Identification of opportunities in the markets we serve (North America).
Support for new product initiatives such as regional distribution/mixing hub concepts, data analytics services and others.
Role requires previous experience and knowledge of solutions consulting and design principles and methodologies, preferably in the logistics or consulting markets.
Responsibilities Business development activities including:
Developing a sales-call plan for named target accounts
Setting sale call objectives
Conducting face-to-face and other communications with prospects at all levels in their organization
Following up on commitments and issues that arise during sales calls
Communicating customer and competitive developments related to the assigned sales territory and the company
Managing CRM activities
Developing and closing business with each customer assigned
Support CRM activities including updating calendars, opportunity pipeline, customer profiles and contact information
Lead business development efforts: organizing cross-functional resources as needed
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in local trade, professional and civic associations as a company representative; review professional publications and establish networks
Lead/participate in the post-sales implementation team
Key Results Meet/exceed new business budget
Support all administrative activities including updates to account profiles and target account programs
Stay within travel and entertainment budget
Qualifications Preferred minimum 7 years of industry experience, with national account sales experience
Intimate knowledge of the US intermodal network and service offerings
Proven customer service skills to create, maintain and enhance customer relationships
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds
Working knowledge of PC-based applications and electronic information systems
Excellent negotiation skills and proficiency with MS Office and administrative functions

Candidates must be within 250 miles of an APL Logistics facility or office.
The typical starting salary range for this position is: $98,280 - $140,400. The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, and location. Salary details reflect base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.

Work Location Work location requires employees living within 25 miles of an APL Logistics Hub Office to follow a designated hybrid schedule; fully on-site or fully remote schedules are determined by role and business needs. Hybrid employees must report to the office 8 days per month. Warehouse roles are typically fully on-site. Candidates outside the 25-mile radius may be considered for fully remote roles depending on business needs. Remote work requires compliance with company policies; commuting costs are not reimbursed.
