Purpose The Communications Manager will execute and support the company’s communications initiatives, translating strategic direction into high-quality, consistent, and timely messaging across all channels. Reporting to the Communications & Marketing Director, this role is hands-on and delivery-focused, ensuring that Divergent’s innovation, credibility, and growth story are clearly communicated to internal and external stakeholders. The Role Strategic Messaging Support – Support the development and execution of the company’s brand narrative by implementing messaging frameworks across press, digital, event, and internal communications. Ensure consistency of voice and positioning in all materials. Media Relations Execution – Draft press releases, media pitches, and briefing materials. Coordinate media outreach, manage press inquiries, and support relationships with journalists, analysts, and industry publications under the direction of the Communications & Marketing Director. Content Creation & Management – Create, edit, and manage a steady pipeline of high-quality content including press releases, blog posts, case studies, white papers, executive presentations, and social media content. Executive & Leadership Communications Support – Assist in the preparation of executive communications including talking points, speeches, presentations, and thought leadership content. Internal Communications – Support internal communication initiatives by drafting company-wide updates, leadership messages, and employee communications that reinforce transparency, engagement, and company culture. Crisis & Practical Communications – Assist with the preparation and execution of clear, accurate communications during time-sensitive or high-pressure situations, including rapid-response messaging and stakeholder updates. Events & Industry Engagement – Support the planning and execution of trade shows, industry events, product launches, and webinars by developing messaging, collateral, and on-site communications materials. Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with engineering, business development, operations, and external partners to gather information and translate technical and commercial developments into compelling communications. Performance Tracking & Reporting – Track communications metrics and KPIs across media coverage, content performance, and campaigns. Provide reporting and insights to support continuous improvement of communications efforts. Basic Qualifications Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in corporate communications, PR, or content development, preferably in high-tech, manufacturing, aerospace, or defense-related industries. Strong writing and editing skills with demonstrated experience producing press releases and long-form content. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible messaging. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Willingness to support industry events and occasional travel as needed. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience in aerospace and defense sectors, with understanding of defense contractors and regulatory environment. Familiarity with industry media outlets, analysts, and trade publications. Experience supporting communications during periods of growth, transformation, or fundraising. Proactive, hands-on mindset with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through. Experience coordinating with external agencies, freelancers, or vendors. In office presence in Torrance, CA. Close collaboration with the Communications & Marketing Director and cross-functional teams including executive leadership, engineering, and business development.
