The Speros Communications manager is responsible for developing communications strategies and directing and managing all internal and external communications efforts for Speros, aligning messaging with Moffitt Cancer Center. This position reports to the Public Relations director and works closely with the Speros Director of Strategic Initiatives. The manager will collaborate with Speros and Moffitt executive leadership and department leaders to manage and execute internal and external communications to enhance the brand and reputation of Speros. Responsibilities Speros Communications Strategy Develop and execute an overall communications strategy supporting the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Speros. This includes issues and crisis communications in conjunction with Moffitt's Strategic Communications team. Ability to work with Moffitt and Strategic Communications senior leadership to ensure alignment with Moffitt's overall communications strategy. External Communications Strategy Develop, direct and execute messaging for media, social media and website content. Represent Speros to the media, building and managing strategic relationships with reporters and publications to secure positive news coverage; engage with community partners, civic organizations, etc. to develop Speros synergies. Internal Communications Develop a comprehensive internal communications strategy to inform team members, faculty, leaders and board members of Speros developments. Create and manage all content through biweekly email or existing internal update emails (WHAM - What’s Happening At Moffitt) or other communication modes, etc. Manage, execute and promote recurring tours of campus for all leaders, team members, community partners, etc. Content Curation Identify comprehensive information to be included in Board, Internal Committee, External Committee and other presentations. Develop such presentations as needed. Craft additional content for various communications channels including brand journalism, media relations, social media internal/external websites, presentations, newsletters, board communications, etc. Responsible for identifying story ideas and newsworthy initiatives that showcase Speros. Social Media Develop, manage and execute social media strategy for Speros. Partner with Interactive Media team to ensure synergy with overall Moffitt social media strategy. Executive Support Provide communications counsel to Speros executive leadership, including speaking points, issues management, speeches, presentations, etc. Event Coordination Manage all aspects of Speros events including ground breakings, topping off ceremonies, grand openings, etc. Represent Speros at civic and community meetings, town halls and arranging and hosting site tours. Attend conferences as needed, managing all external communications including media and social media. Credential and Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing Communications or other related field. Minimum of seven (7) years’ work experience (including paid college internships) in one or more of the following: public relations, corporate communications, media relations, marketing, social media or related field.
