Responsibilities

Design and implement strength training and conditioning programs for all school-sanctioned athletic programs.

Develop training schedules.

Attend and supervise all after school weight training programs.

Oversee all weight training classes during the school day.

Responsible for the overall management of the Costigan weight room.

Devote full attention to student-athletes during the workouts.

Work in cooperation with the sports medicine or athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.

Facilitate a collaborative relationship among sport coaches, sports medicine, and the strength and conditioning staff.

Design and implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards Guidelines.

Working with coaches develop systems for tracking athlete attendance and progress.

Conduct an annual needs-analysis for each team in conjunction with the coach and athletic trainer at the conclusion of each sport season.

Complete an annual budgetary proposal for the program that includes routine maintenance, purchase of new equipment, and staffing needs.

Determine and reinforce expectations for athlete conduct that mirror the school’s expectations for curricular and extra-curricular activities, as stated in the school’s Student Code of Conduct.

Oversee the strength and conditioning social media platforms and highlight our student-athletes and their accomplishments.

Develop, maintain, and publish/share a Google strength and conditioning calendar.

Establish and communicate weight room rules, guidelines, and expectations.

Encourage every team to workout in the weight room in and out of season.

Communicate strength and conditioning program objectives to coaches and athletes.

Manage and monitor coach certifications, renewals, and applications.

Organize special events, banquets, signing days, acknowledgements, and speaker events.

Organize, facilitate, and collect all info for Summer Camps.

Maintain and prepare necessary game day and in season materials, and rosters.

Carry out other duties as may be assigned by the Athletic Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology or related field - Preferred.

A current relevant professional certification credentialed by an independent accreditation agency such as the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) certification.

Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.

A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.

Experience in strength and conditioning programming for high school populations.

Strong organizational skills.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong motivational skills.

Ability to interact positively with student athletes, colleagues, and the public.

Knowledge of NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards and Guidelines.

Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.

Physical Demands and Travel Work in standard office, school building, and athletic training environments. Visually monitor athletes. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Regular use of fingers and hands. Physically fit and able to demonstrate appropriate techniques to athletes. Swift movement, lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies and equipment. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Travel to school buildings, work assignments, and meetings as required.
