Washington, DC Paralegal duties focus upon litigation support for high-profile cases in the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division at the US Attorney’s Office. Positions involve complex responsibilities and require a capable candidate who can work in Washington, DC. Note:

Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or a Project Supervisor. Develops work products with minimal direct supervision, with review prior to submission. Compiles, prepares, and summarizes materials for discovery and for motions, briefs, and other legal documents; summarizes depositions and transcripts; maintains case files; performs moderately complex legal research; synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviews case-related materials and identifies areas requiring further investigation; writes preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence; indexes, tracks, and controls document discovery; indexes and tracks exhibits and other materials at depositions and trial. Prepares exhibit cross-references; assists attorneys in the courtroom. Reviews documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines; compiles documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc. Trial experience in the courtroom; ECF filings; filings such as subpoenas, complaints, and search warrants; preparing trial exhibits and trial binders; managing eDiscovery platform; receive and organize discovery; index discovery. Qualifications

Required: Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or experience; equivalent education may be substituted. At least 2 years of litigation paralegal experience, including 1 year in automated litigation support. Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases (e.g., document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems (Relativity, Excel, JEFS/Box.com, Word, Zoom, Teams, PowerPoint, and social media tools). Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure. Advanced Excel skills. Professional, customer-service attitude. Ability to travel. DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US citizenship required). Work will be performed on site in Washington, D.C. five days a week. Pay and Benefits This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits meet or exceed the minimum wage as detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position. Minimum Required Hourly Wage:

$31.69 There are additional factors that influence final salary, including location, experience, skills, education, and certifications.
