
Excise & Sales Use Tax Specialist

Century Group is partnering with a client that is seeking a Tax Specialist to join their team. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary of $80,000 to $100,000 per year.
Job responsibilities:
Classify products accurately into the correct excise tax categories across multiple product types. Maintain and update tax mapping within ERP systems to ensure compliance with state regulations. Prepare and file excise tax returns for all applicable jurisdictions and maintain audit-ready documentation. Use tax compliance software to reconcile and file state sales tax returns while ensuring product taxability accuracy. Manage licensing processes, including applications, renewals, and amendments for federal, state, and local requirements. Requirements:
Hands-on experience with excise tax compliance and regulatory reporting. Familiarity with sales tax processes and tax compliance software such as Avalara AvaTax. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including handling large datasets. Knowledge of ERP systems and ability to maintain accurate tax mapping. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications:
Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of excise tax laws, PACT Act requirements, and licensing regulations. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to collaborate with internal teams and communicate effectively with external agencies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for handling complex tax scenarios. Previous experience in managing compliance for high-volume product categories.
