Why Virginia Farm Bureau?
Virginia Farm Bureau has been a cornerstone of agricultural and rural life in Virginia for more than 100 years. We're a statewide organization with deep roots in every county — and a people-first culture to match. Here, you won't just administer HR processes — you'll shape the employee experience for a workforce that keeps Virginia's farming communities thriving. The Opportunity
We're looking for a strategic, energetic HR Business Partner to join our team. In this role, you'll be a true partner to business leaders — not just an HR administrator. You'll support a region of county offices and multiple corporate divisions, bringing expertise, empathy, and impact to everything from employee relations to succession planning. If you're a seasoned HR professional who thrives on building relationships, solving complex people challenges, and driving organizational effectiveness — this role was made for you. What You’ll Do
You’ll wear many hats — and love every one of them: Serve as a trusted HR advisor to a region of county offices and multiple corporate divisions, guiding leaders on employee relations, performance, discipline, and compensation. Partner with the Director of Talent Acquisition & Compensation on talent management, succession planning, and workforce strategy. Drive HR business processes — from onboarding to annual policy sign-off — ensuring they’re well‑communicated, consistently executed, and continuously improved. Lead workplace investigations and partner with Legal and senior leadership to navigate complex employee relations matters. Champion a culture of inclusion, listening, and belonging across your assigned areas. Conduct exit and stay interviews, analyze people trends, and bring data‑informed recommendations to the table. Collaborate with the recruiting team on interviews, job fairs, and campus recruitment when needed. Manage assigned HR policies, keeping them current with Federal, State, and local labor law requirements. Identify leadership development needs and partner with the HR VP to address them. Represent VFB HR at company events, conferences, and community engagements. What We’re Looking For
Required 3+ years of HR Generalist experience Working knowledge of employment law, recruitment, and benefits Excellent communication across all levels of an organization Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills High emotional intelligence (EQ) Outstanding organizational and multi‑tasking abilities Commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity Willingness to travel within Virginia (~10% day travel; ~2 overnight trips/year) Active pursuit or maintenance of HR certification Preferred (Bonus Points!) Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP certification Previous HR Business Partner or generalist experience Prior supervisory or management experience What We Offer
A mission you can believe in — supporting Virginia’s farming families and rural communities Hybrid flexibility — 3 days onsite, up to 2 days remote (because we trust you) A collaborative HR team that values your expertise and invests in your growth Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits A culture rooted in respect, integrity, and genuine care for our people The chance to make a real, lasting impact across a statewide organization Ready to Grow With Us? Apply today and help us build a workplace where Virginia Farm Bureau employees thrive — just like the communities we serve. Virginia Farm Bureau is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
