Overview The Client is seeking a

hands‑on ADA Compliance Consultant

to remediate and standardize Microsoft Word documents for accessibility. This is an

execution‑focused role , requiring the consultant to convert existing documents into

"pre‑checked ADA compliant" templates , ensuring minimal post‑processing by internal staff.

Key Responsibilities ADA Compliance & Document Remediation

Format and remediate

MS Word documents

to meet ADA accessibility standards (Section 508/WCAG 2.1 AA).

Apply proper

heading structures, styles, lists, and document hierarchy .

Ensure accessibility compliance for:

Tables (headers, structure, readability)

Images (alt text where applicable)

Hyperlinks and navigation

Reading order and logical flow

Convert documents into

reusable, ADA‑compliant Word templates .

Ensure documents are

"pre‑checked" , allowing GSA staff to add content with minimal accessibility fixes.

Establish

consistent formatting standards

across all documents.

Validation & Quality Assurance

Use

MS Word Accessibility Checker

and other tools to validate compliance.

Identify and resolve accessibility issues to ensure

high‑quality, compliant outputs .

Work with GSA stakeholders for feedback and final validation.

Scope of Work

Construction Specifications (Word):

30–40 documents

Range: 1 page to 200 pages (high variability and complexity)

Contracts/Agreements:

3–4 documents, 20–40 pages each

Required Skills & Experience Must‑Have

Strong hands‑on experience with

ADA compliance for documents and/or websites .

Deep expertise in

Microsoft Word formatting for accessibility

(styles, headings, TOC, tables).

Experience with

Section 508 and/or WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards .

Familiarity with

Word Accessibility Checker

and document validation techniques.

Preferred

Experience working with

government/public sector agencies .

Exposure to

construction specifications or legal/contract documents .

Experience with

screen readers (JAWS/NVDA)

or advanced accessibility testing tools.

Accessibility certifications (e.g., CPACC, WAS) are a plus.
