Communications Manager

Overview We are seeking an experienced Communications Manager to support a dynamic healthcare system’s media relations and internal communications efforts. This is a highly visible role requiring a strong writer, confident communicator, and strategic partner who can engage with stakeholders across multiple hospital locations. There is long-term potential for this position to evolve into an ongoing opportunity supporting the broader communications team. Key Responsibilities Partner with communications leadership to support media relations and internal communications initiatives Develop and distribute press releases, media pitches, and external communications Create executive talking points, speeches, and messaging for leadership Produce employee communications, including newsletters, intranet content, and organizational updates Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders across multiple hospital locations Support or serve as an on-camera/media spokesperson as needed Maintain consistency in messaging across internal and external channels Travel locally (typically within 45–60 minutes) to support various sites within the health system Qualifications 5–7+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications Proven experience in internal communications within a complex organization Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong portfolio (press releases, internal comms, executive messaging, etc.) Experience developing executive communications and stakeholder-facing content Comfortable engaging with media and serving as a spokesperson when needed Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment Experience in healthcare, hospital systems, or highly regulated industries preferred Additional Details Location: On-site in Birmingham, AL Travel: Local travel required to nearby facilities Interview Process: Initial virtual interviews with team leadership, followed by a final on-site interview Portfolio Required: Writing samples (press releases, internal communications, etc.); on-camera samples are a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr
