Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
Three (3) years of full-time experience in donor experience, alumni relations, communications, advancement services, project management and/or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
Experience working in a university, nonprofit, government or municipal environment, and/or large healthcare system.
Experience coordinating donor stewardship programs, financial or fund reporting, advancement databases, or project management in a higher education or nonprofit environment.
Experience coordinating financial or fund reporting related to endowments, scholarships, or philanthropic funds.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.
Brief Description of Duties Reporting to the Director of Donor Experience, the Assistant Director of Donor Experience plays an important role in advancing stewardship and recognition of philanthropic support to Stony Brook University.
The Assistant Director will manage projects for several Donor Experience processes inclusive of creating, managing, and executing programs that steward and recognize donors via written communications, reports, events, and physical recognition while developing the skills and tangible results to accelerate your professional development.
This role works closely with development officers, Data Services, the Stony Brook Foundation, Marketing and Communications and external vendors to ensure stewardship efforts are accurate, timely and aligned with institutional standards.
Donor Stewardship and Recognition Project Management
Serve as project manager, lead writer, and researcher for key donor stewardship and recognition initiatives including scholarship stewardship communications; reporting, impact and endowment reporting; and physical recognition efforts.
Maintain tracking systems and documentation to monitor stewardship and recognition deliverables and reporting timelines.
Financial and Fund Reporting Coordination
Coordinate with Data Services and the Stony Brook Foundation to obtain and verify financial data used in donor reporting.
Submit requests, review and troubleshoot issues, and prepare accurate financial and fund information to support the production and delivery of donor-facing reports.
Vendor and Production Coordination
Coordinate with vendors to ensure deliverables meet quality standards and project schedules for stewardship reporting, recognition and related materials.
Process Coordination and Improvement
Assist in identifying opportunities to improve stewardship workflows, reporting processes and project coordination across Donor Experience.
Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
