Real Property Specialist I
State Highway Administration (SHA) Office of Real Estate is recruiting for a Real Property Specialist I located in Baltimore City. This is an interview and hire position open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below.

Nature of Work The main purpose of this position is to provide appraisal, right‑of‑way (R/W) acquisition, relocation assistance, property management and related administrative services for SHA’s capital program under the guidance of a higher‑level Real Property Specialist. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing and administering small procurement contracts, coordinating and processing requests for all land acquisition settlement checks and payments for State and Federal projects, processing vendor invoices for real property services and maintenance contracts; assisting, advising, and supporting ORE staff with regard to small procurement procedures, regulations and documentation, and other administrative duties as assigned in support of the R/W program.
Qualifications
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: None.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Notes
Additional experience in professional or technical real estate work may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis for the required education.
U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Licenses & Certifications Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the state of Maryland.
Additional Information Special Requirements
Employees may be subject to statewide assignment which may occasionally require overnight travel.
Employees must be willing and available for duty at such hours, day or night, as may be required to respond to agency operations.
Employees are required to maintain a reliable communication link (telephone or pager) for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.
