The Imagine Group is recruiting for a Director of Finance on behalf of our client, a leading certified public accounting and consulting firm in Buffalo, NY providing audit, tax, and advisory services to a wide range of businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals. Known for its client-focused approach, the firm delivers strategic financial guidance, compliance support, and customized solutions to help organizations achieve long-term financial stability and growth.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency. You will manage accounting functions, monitor financial performance, and provide leadership with data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and long-term growth.
Role & Responsibility
Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success
- Own and manage the full accounting cycle across multiple affiliated entities
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records and transactions
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and complete balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee partnership accounting, including capital account maintenance, partner distributions, and confidential reporting
- Prepare annual surveys and required financial reporting
- Monitor daily cash flow and oversee firmwide cash management
- Oversee firmwide time entry, billing, and accounts receivable processes
- Support leadership with billing strategy and collections
- Review accounts payable transactions and ensure accurate general ledger posting
- Oversee vendor compliance reporting, including the preparation of 1099s
- Strengthen internal controls and safeguard financial and data security
- Analyze the firm’s P&L, revenue trends, expense drivers, and margins
- Develop clear, actionable financial dashboards and reporting tools
- Provide forward-looking insights and recommendations to support growth and profitability
- Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes and efficiency
- Support and implement technology improvements related to accounting systems and automation
- Serve as a trusted financial resource to firm leadership
- Present financial information clearly and confidentially to leadership
Skills & Experience
Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration is required
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting of finance experience, including ownership of the full accounting cycle
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting, with the ability to analyze financial data and provide meaningful insight
- Experience overseeing billing, accounts receivable, and cash management processes
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to effectively support internal teams, leadership, vendors, and external business partners
- Experience with CCH Axcess, AccuFund, BILL, or Tallie is a plus
