
Human Resources Specialist

Summary
Under general supervision, the HR Specialist performs a wide variety of functions relating to recruiting, payroll processing, and benefit administration, as well as various other general functions in support of the Human Resources Department. This role acts as a primary resource for leadership teams and employees, balancing community-facing recruitment with high-accuracy administrative operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Hiring Process Administration: Assist with full-cycle recruiting including coordinating job posts, reviewing resumes, applicant screening, and scheduling interviews.
Payroll Processing: Assist with processing exempt and non-exempt payrolls on a bi-weekly and monthly basis for the Credit Union and affiliates.
Employee Relations & Queries: Respond to employee queries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner, maintaining strict confidentiality.
Records & System Management: Prepare/update employment records and systems related to onboarding, promoting, and terminating; ensure all records are stored within retention guidelines.
Compliance, Benefits & Vendors: Process wage garnishments, EDD forms, and 401(k) administrative duties. Maintain vendor management records and process new vendor documents.
Reporting: Assist with preparation of bi-weekly HR reports and analytics to provide leadership with actionable insights.
Resource Management: Manage HR resources on the employee intranet and ensure all forms and data remain current and relevant. Collect, order, & coordinate HR supplies for all events, department use, and accommodation requests.
Education, Experience, And/or Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or relevant work experience in HR required; Bachelor’s degree or HR certification preferred.
1-2 years’ experience in a Human Resources position required.
Must be knowledgeable of employment, wage and hour, and all payroll-related laws and requirements for tax reporting.
Demonstrated ability to produce documents, spreadsheets, and analytics using Windows-based software. Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is required. Experience with HRIS/ATS software preferred.
