Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

Position Summary

The Director of Football Player Personnel Scouting and Data Management reporting to General Manager Michael Lombardi and Head Coach Bill Belichick is a cornerstone role in modernizing the Carolina Football Program. This position is responsible for integrating advanced scouting techniques, cutting‑edge data analytics, and comprehensive player evaluations to build a competitive and sustainable roster. The role is essential in transforming the football program’s operations to align with professional standards under the leadership of Coach Bill Belichick and GM Michael Lombardi.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

1-3 years working in intercollegiate football environment required. Proven expertise in collegiate‑level scouting and data management. Strong background in data analytics and its application in sports operations. Exceptional leadership and organizational skills with a track record of managing complex projects. Excellent communication abilities to liaise with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Prefer experience in D1 intercollegiate football environment, as well as experience working in an FBS intercollegiate office. Knowledge of NCAA and ACC rules and regulations helpful.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements

May be required to lift/move 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a fast‑paced, high volume work environment. Attention to detail essential. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions. Travel required.
