How you’ll contribute The Director of Intake and Assessment ensures a comprehensive assessment of patients seeking treatment for psychiatric or substance abuse disorders. The role oversees the assessment of all persons seeking services, completes initial assessments on patients seeking treatment, supervises staff in responding to inquiries via phone, fax, or walk‑in, and ensures responses within established timelines. It makes and supervises treatment recommendations based on clinical presentation and established guidelines, reviews clinical presentation with an admitting psychiatrist, documents calls and sets appointments for callers, creates, revises, and implements the schedule of the assessment and referral office, interprets treatment to patient and family to ensure understanding, refers and triages patients to other sources of treatment when appropriate, assesses, coaches, and develops team skills in assessment, patient and family interaction and overall therapeutic care, and collects, monitors, and reports service performance data as required by the hospital quality program.

Assumes personal responsibility for obtaining and maintaining professional development and education. Maintains or obtains relevant licensure as appropriate.

Utilizes management, financial, regulatory, and clinical and systems knowledge to assess market needs, collaborates with Business Development Liaison and business development staff to ensure timely response to inquiries and referrals, gathers data from a variety of sources in a systematic manner, and tracks, trends, analyzes, and synthesizes performance indicators.

Demonstrates leadership in planning and scheduling the department efficiently to support timely assessment of referrals, manage staff, and promote clinical demands. Responds to community/market needs, regulatory changes, patient service needs, and quality service demands.

Provides oversight of human and fiscal resources, maintaining budgetary and safety guidelines.

Accepts participation in special projects, other duties, and appointments to hospital/local/regional committees as appropriate.

Qualifications

Minimum Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Professional Counseling

Master’s Degree in Nursing pending State requirements.

Licensure in State of Practice.

Independent Practice Scope Licensure.

2–5 years of leadership experience.

2–5 years of experience in the discipline.
