Job Description Athletic Director – Maryville High School
Position Overview
Maryville High School seeks a qualified Athletic Director for grades 10–12 (and soon 9-12). This full‑time, benefited position operates on a 220‑day contract and reports directly to the principal. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and oversight of all athletic programs while collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to foster a culture of excellence and sportsmanship.
Required Qualifications
Valid teaching certificate
No coaching responsibilities during tenure as Athletic Director

Preferred Qualifications
Head coaching experience at the high school level, minimum of 5 years
Administrative experience, preferred
Minimum of 5 years combined coaching and teaching experience
Demonstrated ability to support and sustain highly competitive athletic programs
Track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining qualified coaches
Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership capabilities
Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Proven fiscal management and fundraising expertise
Understanding of TSSAA policies and guidelines
