The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating the labor, equipment, and material costs for roofing opportunities. This role involves verifying sales information, negotiating supplier pricing, and maintaining current market data to generate precise estimates and project documents. A key aspect of the position is conducting risk analysis on complex projects and collaborating on operational improvements while ensuring compliance with company processes. Essential functions include performing detailed estimates in all types of roofing systems, generating detailed reports for hours, materials, equipment, and other supplies; providing value engineering to ensure the optimal roofing system is selected to meet client needs; thoroughly reviewing project drawings and specifications, ensuring manufacturer warranty; attending client meetings with sales staff to help diagnose roofing problems and discuss solutions; maintaining current market pricing for materials in estimating system; negotiating with suppliers and manufacturers regarding pricing; drafting and compiling complex project documents, manufacturer documents, and submittals; participating in pre and post bid meetings as applicable; networking and marketing company services to existing and potential clients; completing risk analysis on complex projects; generating job cost reports; maintaining compliance with company processes, contract terms, and project requirements; and performing hand-off meetings to assigned project managers. Required skills and abilities include maintaining a valid driver's license in accordance with state laws and company driver policies; OSHA 30 Certification; understanding of OSHA safety requirements and adherence to all work safety protocols; computer proficiency in software programs: Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, The EDGE, and Pipedrive; knowledge of commercial roofing systems, as well as industry codes and standards; ability to read/interpret blueprints, submittals, drawing plans, and product specifications; strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; people-oriented -- enjoys interacting with people; detail-oriented; time management--great time management; able to prioritize and meet deadlines; excellent written and verbal communication skills; embodying and modeling company values of serving others, passion for results, accountability, integrity, respect, consistency, and excellence; always representing the company in a positive manner; must demonstrate respect to customers, supervisors, and team members, communicating all concerns in a professional manner and always adhere to standards of conduct and company policies. Education and experience include 3 years of experience in construction estimating preferred; 5 years of experience in roofing (prefer experience in code enforcement and building system inspections); continuing industry education as relevant to estimating job duties (even after hire). Work environment/physical requirements include passing initial drug test and participating in random drug test program; primarily indoor work environment; ability to work at high elevations; frequent walking, standing, kneeling, crouching; overtime and weekend work.
