Position Summary The Associate Director (AD) of Radiology’s Epidemiology Research Team will be a primary manager over the operations, personnel, research initiatives, and financial management for the Epidemiology Research Team. The AD will directly report to and under the direction of the Principal Investigator/Director of the Department of Radiology’s Epidemiology Research Team. The Epidemiology Research Team currently has 6 funded grants/projects and collaborates with over 75 faculty and staff at 10 academic institutions across the country. Research focuses on the areas of breast, liver, and lung cancer. In addition to constructing independent investigator-initiated projects, the Epidemiology Research Team is part of larger national efforts, and the AD is responsible for overseeing all administrative and operational aspects of the Epidemiology Research Team and related grant projects.
This position requires substantial capacity to independently manage and coordinate research activities for the various projects within the program. The AD shall maintain good working relationships with investigators and staff involved in Epidemiology Research Team activities (at UNC -CH and across the U.S.), with participating healthcare systems and providers, participating study subjects, other collaborating sites, and funding agencies. This position will also be responsible for the fiscal management of the program grants, contracts, and other sources of revenue.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
At least 5 years of project management experience, including at least 1 year of experience working in an academic setting.
Demonstrated experience with the acquisition and management of funding.
Proven ability to integrate and analyze information from diverse disciplines and ability to master new concepts.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Previous experience managing large epidemiology studies, supervising project staff, and working with investigators at other institutions.
