Position Summary The Office of Admissions at Oregon State University–Cascades is seeking enthusiastic, motivated students to join our team as Student Ambassadors. This part‑time role (10–24 hours per week) provides meaningful, hands‑on experience designed to build career‑ready skills aligned with the eight NACE Career Readiness Competencies: Communication, Teamwork, Leadership, Professionalism, Technology, Critical Thinking, Equity & Inclusion, and Career & Self‑Development.
Student Ambassadors serve as the first point of contact for prospective students and their families, representing OSU -Cascades through tours, events, and communications (email, phone, text, and virtual platforms). This dynamic and collaborative team plays a critical role in shaping the visitor’s experience and supporting enrollment goals.
Transferable Skill Development OSU is committed to ensuring students are prepared for success after graduation through intentional skill development as student employees. The competencies students develop while working at OSU are defined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) as the essential skills employers seek in their hires. In this position, students learn and build vital career‑readiness skills in the primary areas below:

Position Duties TOUR AMBASSADOR TOUR Ambassadors provide engaging, informative, and personalized campus tours, offering prospective students and families a firsthand look at academics, campus life, and the OSU -Cascades experience.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily campus tours for individuals and groups (in-person and virtual)
Lead specialized tours for counselors, community partners, and prospective employees
Represent OSU -Cascades at recruitment events, including high school visits and webinars
Present on student panels and assist with open houses and preview events
Operate the Welcome Center and support daily visitor engagement
Provide tours and services in both English and Spanish (for bilingual ambassadors)
Communicate admissions processes and campus resources clearly and accurately
Create inclusive and welcoming experiences for visitors of all backgrounds
BEAV AMBASSADOR BEAV Ambassadors ensure smooth daily operations within the Welcome Center while maintaining excellent communication with prospective students.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and schedule campus visits and itineraries
Communicate with prospective students via phone, email, and text
Support office operations including inventory, mail, and data entry
Maintain an organized, welcoming environment
Assist with visitor engagement and admissions processes
Utilize Admissions systems to ensure accurate data management
Collaborate with staff and ambassadors to support team goals
Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program
Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Must be academically enrolled at OSU -Cascades and pursuing a program or course of study.
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to demonstrate reliability and professionalism in the workplace.
Ability to effectively and positively represent OSU -Cascades to prospective families and community members.
Exhibit leadership, initiative, dependability, discipline, and self‑confidence.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Bilingual (Spanish‑speaking) applicants, with the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish in verbal and written formats.
Interest in or ability to support Spanish‑language campus tours and communications, enhancing access and inclusion for prospective students and families.
Experience with or interest in representing specialized academic communities such as the Oregon State University Honors College.
Strong public speaking, customer service, or peer leadership experience.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment.
