
Corporate Tax Senior Manager

The Corporate Tax Senior Manager will be part of the Corporate Tax practice, leading corporate tax compliance, ASC 740 income tax provision, and strategic tax planning engagements. This role includes managing multiple client relationships, leading engagement teams, and contributing to business development. It is a key leadership role with a clear path to Partner or Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee multiple tax engagements across industries from planning through execution
Provide strategic tax planning, compliance, and consulting expertise
Conduct primary and secondary review of complex tax returns and ASC 740 provisions
Manage engagement economics (budget, realization, utilization, AR, expenses)
Drive business development, identify growth opportunities, and expand client relationships
Serve as primary client contact and build strong relationships with stakeholders
Mentor, develop, and evaluate staff across multiple levels
Research complex tax issues and provide technical guidance
Collaborate with internal specialists including WNTO
Ensure adherence to professional standards and confidentiality
Participate in industry events and professional development
Must-Have Requirements
Active CPA or JD/active law license (CPA strongly required)
5-7+ years of progressive tax compliance or tax consulting experience
Strong experience in ASC 740 tax provision (prep, review, audit)
Recent experience with Top 20 public accounting firms
Willingness to work hybrid (minimum 3 days onsite in Chicago office)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Required Skills
Deep expertise in corporate income tax & ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and corporate tax regulations
Experience in multi-state taxation, international tax, and transfer pricing
Strong engagement management and leadership experience
Excellent analytical, technical, and tax technology skills
Exceptional communication, client management, and presentation skills
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience in public accounting / professional services (Top 20 firms preferred)
Experience with OneSource Tax Provision (OTP)
Exposure to diverse industries (Manufacturing, Technology, Pharma, etc.)
Stable career progression (no frequent job changes)
