A full-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist position is available in a K-12 school setting located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This contract role provides an excellent opportunity to support students across a range of grade levels and developmental stages, focusing on enhancing their navigation and mobility skills in various environments.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and provide orientation and mobility training to K-12 students with visual impairments or other disabilities.
Develop individualized mobility plans tailored to each student's needs.
Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to integrate mobility strategies into the school curriculum.
Conduct safety assessments and recommend adaptive technologies or tools.
Maintain detailed records of student progress and interventions.
Qualifications and Desired Experience
Active Orientation and Mobility (O&M) license in Massachusetts.
Proven experience working with school-aged children in a K-12 setting.
Strong understanding of mobility techniques and instructional strategies.
Ability to work onsite full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Location and Schedule
Position based in Cambridge, MA.
Full-time hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.).
Contract duration aligned with the current school year.
