This opportunity is for a licensed Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students in an engaging school environment located in Onancock, VA. The position is part-time and requires in-person presence to provide specialized mobility training and orientation services to visually impaired students, helping them develop independence and confidence in their daily navigation.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct orientation and mobility assessments tailored to each student's needs

Develop and implement individualized mobility training programs

Collaborate with teachers, families, and other specialists to enhance student progress

Provide direct instruction in safe and effective travel techniques, including the use of assistive devices and environmental concepts

Maintain accurate documentation of student performance and progress

Qualifications

Valid Virginia Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) license

Experience working with school-aged children (K-12) in educational settings

Strong knowledge of visual impairments and mobility techniques

Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

Effective communication skills and patience to support students' learning processes
