Technical Theater Director

Responsibilities of Technical Theater Director:
Teach multiple sections of upper school technical theater courses, including scenic, lighting, and sound design.
Design and implement a training program to grow the student technical production team, including backstage crew, sound and lighting board operators, and spotlight operators.
Serve as lead scenic and lighting designer for multiple school productions per year.
Manage set-up and maintenance of sound, lighting, and AV equipment for school events.
Collaborate with students and faculty to produce dance, music, and theater productions.
Oversee the installation of sets, lighting, and technical elements for performances and events.
Supervise and mentor students in technical theater disciplines, including set construction, lighting design, sound, and stage management.
Plan and control budget to ensure strategic allocation of resources.
Requirements of Technical Theater Director:
Bachelor's degree in Theater, Education, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Previous experience with set design, sound, lighting, and/or stage management required.
Previous K-12 theater teaching experience strongly preferred.
Extensive knowledge of technical theater, theater equipment, and best practices.
Ability to build sets for theater productions.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Additional Desired Qualities:
Interest to contribute to school community outside of the classroom as an athletic coach, student advisor, or student club leader.
