Job Description Job Title:

Director of Instructional Services

Reports To:

Assistant Superintendent

Summary:

Responsible for the development and delivery of career guidance services, auxiliary services for student development for workplace transition, and staff programs to enhance professional skills pertaining to the delivery of technical training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Participate with district’s management team and other staff in the daily operations of the school to include institutional planning, fiscal planning, and student management.

Provide assistance to program areas for the development and alignment of curriculum for occupational certification of students participating in training programs.

Plan, develop, and implement a data driven professional development program designed to increase student achievement, promote personal and professional staff skills, and improve the delivery of technical skills to customers.

Coordinate with partner school administration and personnel for planning of special projects, annual projects, and daily operations relating to program offerings, projects, and student management.

Assist instructors in designing, developing, and organizing competency/performance-based courses and curriculum based on occupational demand and industry standards.

Coordinate with educational services staff regarding daily program operations to include staff evaluation, student discipline management, and others as needed.

Coordinate the review, assessment, justification and selection of current and future pathways, career majors and course offerings to meet gainful employment and disclosure requirements.

Coordinate with educational services and staff for the planning, development and delivery of a career tech student organization system.

Provide leadership and oversight for New Teacher/Mentor Induction Program, and Teacher Certification/Preparation.

Provide leadership and oversight of Administration Reviews, Program Reviews and Program Certifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise all professional teaching staff and support staff in educational services.

Qualification Requirements:

Education / Experience:

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration, or a related field. A valid Secondary Principal Certification is required. A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience is preferred. Experience in teaching or supervising Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs is also preferred. Must possess a CareerTech Administrator Credential or be willing to obtain this credential in accordance with ODCTE guidelines.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
