Child Care Center Director (FLCC Association) The Director of the Child Care Center is responsible for the overall leadership, daily operations, and strategic direction of the Child Care Center at the Finger Lakes Community College. This role ensures a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children while maintaining full compliance with all applicable licensing and regulatory requirements. The Director provides supervision and support to center staff, oversees budgeting and financial performance, manages enrollment and family engagement, and upholds high standards of program quality.

The Director works closely with the Executive Director of the FLCC Association on financial planning, policy development, and operational initiatives and represents the Child Care Center on college committees and campus-wide projects. The position requires flexibility to accommodate operational needs, including occasional evenings or special events.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Adhere to all New York State Office of Children and Family Services regulations

Maintain Center license through New York State Office of Children and Family Services

Follow all Center policies and procedures

Recommend and implement all Child Care Center policies and procedures

Direct all aspects of the Center, including hiring, supervising, training, scheduling, mentoring, evaluating, and terminating staff; parent relations; curriculum; and enrollment

Create menus, order and manage distribution of food and beverages, and keep appropriate records according to Child and Adult Care Food Program regulations

Ensure all program operation is consistent with Association procedures, including insurance, accidents, emergency response, purchasing, personnel, and accounting

Maintain all records for staff and children according to Office of Children and Family Services and Department of Social Services guidelines Respect and maintain confidentiality of children, parents, and staff

Conduct regular staff meetings, fulfill all training requirements, and maintain all mandatory clearances

Ensure quality supervision and safety of children

Oversee Quality Stars Accreditation

Foster communication with parents regarding children's progress and activities

Administer accounts for all enrolled families, including invoicing, collecting, processing, and receipting of fees

Purchase all supplies, materials, and equipment for the Center, seeking approval as needed

Apply and manage grants through SUNY Federal Block Grant and SUNY Campus Grant

Submit invoices, deposits, and employee time sheets on a timely basis to the Association Accounting and Operations Coordinator

Plan Center activities and special guests

Recommend to Executive Director changes to Child Care Center employees and policies/procedures

Oversee interns

Assist in preparing and managing annual budget in fiscally sound manner

Perform other duties as assigned

Update Handbooks and other paperwork as needed

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS The Child Care Center Director leads the Child Care Center of Finger Lakes Community College Association and reports to its Executive Director.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field and two years of full-time teaching experience in an early childhood program and two years of administrative and supervisory experience in a childcare program or related field of work.

COMPENSATION

Full-time exempt position, 52 weeks per year, 40 hours per week
